French Immersion in Melbourne

Our first immersion in Melbourne was so popular that we're going back in September! We'll seize the opportunity to view the magnificent French Impressionism Exhibition at NGV to spend 4 fabulous days immersed in French with students of similar level and teachers from French à la Carte.

The programme includes a mix of small group lessons, activities offered by native-French professionals and meals in delicious French restaurants. It’s the perfect opportunity to practice your French “for real”, with friends, while having fun at the same time!

Located in the heart of Melbourne, Batman’s Hill on Collin's offers stylish and comfortable accommodations, just opposite Southern Cross Station. The hotel provides easy access to Melbourne’s top attractions, including Crown Casino, Docklands, and vibrant shopping and dining precincts. With an on-site restaurant, bar, and lounge, as well as modern amenities, Batman’s Hill on Collins is an excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers seeking convenience and comfort in the city. Each participant can choose a 3.5-star standard room or upgrade to a 4.5-star option for an enhanced experience.

Programme

Day 1 - Monday 22 September

• 1pm Group transfer from Melbourne Airport
• 2pm  Check in at Hotel Batman’s Hill on Collin's
• 3pm  Welcome & ice-breaker activities to get to know each other
• 4pm  Guided walk tour: Explore Melbourne’s French heritage with a new guide & itinerary
• 7pm  Dinner (2 course meal) at a French restaurant in South Yarra (accessible by train)

Day 2

• 8am   Breakfast
• 9am Class 1 by FALC teacher(s)
• 12pm Free lunch
• 2pm   NGV Exhibition Visit – Discover a French Impressionism exhibition
• 4pm   Free time
• 7pm  Dinner at Handpicked Wines Cellar Door, a two-course meal with a curated wine

Day 3

• 8am Breakfast
• 9am Class 2 by FALC teacher(s)
• 12pm Free lunch
• 2pm  Activity in French indoor or outdoor, depending on the weather (park or museum)
• 4pm Vue de Monde Rooftop Experience – Enjoy stunning city views with a cocktail
• 5.30pm French Cooking Class & Dinner - Hands-on class with a French chef, preparing a full gourmet meal (entrée, main, dessert). BYO drinks.

Day 4

• 8am Breakfast & check out
• 9am Class 3 by FALC teacher(s)
• 12pm Group transfer to the airport

French Classes
Each class will be taught by one or two FALC teacher(s)(depending on group size) on a variety of activities and topics, typically related to the activity planned on the same day. The main goal is to improve comprehension and conversational French, to immerse yourself in the language and « force » yourself to use as much French as possible throughout the day. All in a pleasant atmosphere, of course!

The minimum level required to attend this immersion is Intermediate, i.e. B1.1 and above.

Participants are expected to speak French at all times throughout the immersion. English is not allowed!
