Whisked Away: A Baking Retreat in Toulouse with Alisha Henderson & Jana Lai

In May 2025, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting a dreamy Baking Retreat in the heart of the French countryside at the stunning Domaine D’en Maury, and what a week it was!

Led by Melbourne’s very own cake queen Alisha Henderson and the incredibly talented Parisian pastry chef Jana Lai, this retreat was a true celebration of creativity, indulgence, and connection.

Guests dove deep into the art of baking, learning everything from creating elegant three-tier cakes with intricate piping to mastering the delicate layers of a classic French millefeuille and the iconic Paris-Brest. The hands-on classes were filled with laughter, learning, and lots of buttercream.



Our home for the week, Domaine D’en Maury, was nothing short of magical, a luxurious countryside escape complete with a jacuzzi, pool, and spa, offering the perfect balance of relaxation and inspiration. Our private chef Dalila treated us daily to the very best of French cuisine, turning every meal into a moment to remember.

Between baking sessions, guests enjoyed thoughtfully curated experiences including a day trip to vibrant Toulouse, a winery visit nestled in the rolling vineyards of the region, and an indulgent wine & cheese masterclass that perfectly paired local flavours.

But what truly made this retreat unforgettable was the amazing group of guests who joined us from all around the world. The energy was warm, creative, and full of good vibes, the kind of group that starts as strangers and leaves as lifelong friends.

We’re so proud of this special retreat and all that was baked, learned, and shared. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Alisha and Jana Lai for their talent, generosity, and passion. Your workshops were inspiring, delicious, and filled with so much joy.

And guess what? Alisha is coming back in  2026! Our next baking retreat will take place in beautiful Provence, don’t miss the chance to be part of something magical once again!
