Our Sweet Escape with Alisha Henderson in Provence

Our second baking retreat with Alisha Henderson officially came to life in Provence, and what a week it was. After an unforgettable first edition in Toulouse last year, we were beyond excited to welcome Alisha back to France once again. This time, she was joined by her sous chef Jay, making it even more special to bring her all the way from Melbourne to the South of France for another week dedicated to baking, beauty, and connection.
This year, we settled into a stunning private villa near Aix-en-Provence, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, sunshine, and rosé afternoons. Our guests were spoiled all week by our private chef Valérie, who prepared beautiful Provençal meals inspired by the region. Beyond the kitchen, the week was filled with unforgettable experiences: a gourmet food tour through Aix-en-Provence, a goûter at the iconic Caumont Centre d'Art, free time to wander the charming streets, wine tastings at a local winery, and of course a magical morning in Lourmarin. There, guests explored the famous market like locals, enjoyed a guided tour of the village and château, and finished with an olive oil tasting celebrating the flavours of Provence.
And then… the baking ! Throughout the week, guests immersed themselves in French pâtisserie and cake artistry with Alisha and Jay. Together they created a beautiful gâteau fraisier, decadent éclairs au chocolat, and of course one of Alisha’s most iconic creations, her signature vintage tier cake. The classes were filled with laughter, creativity, piping bags, buttercream, and so many incredible learning moments for bakers of all levels.
What made this retreat truly unforgettable, though, was the atmosphere created by an incredible group of women. The connections formed throughout the week were honestly so special. Everyone had so much in common and truly left as best friends. There was pétanque in the garden, Champagne in the swimming pool, long dinners under the Provence sky, and meaningful conversations that reminded us exactly why we created Madame Voyage.
Our hosts Cintia, Anissa, and Oriane poured their hearts into the week alongside Alisha and Jay, and together we created a retreat we will never forget.
